Cel backrounds
I would be happy to share any of the backgrounds I have posted on this site.
Okay, so there's some good news and there's lots of bad news.
This is not a difficult thing to implement. I almost have it working but I have to get the oil changed on my car tomorrow morning. It should be done by tomorrow night or Friday.
Here's the bad news. It eats bandwidth like no tomorrow. I realized that every background upload will probably be somewhere on the order of 500-700 KB. In the beginning, I'll probably just let anyone have access to it. If it starts becoming a problem where the rest of the site is drained, I'll probably have to close it off for use by only members who have been here for 60 days or more, just to prevent people from starting accounts for free downloads.
Another bad thing to note is that if you're uploading a 700KB file, even on cable/DSL this will take about 20+ seconds where you will be staring at your browser thinking it is broken. I'm probably going to get an upload progress bar for the site, though, so that this works a little better.
So, there you have it. It'll work and it'll be useful, but from a maintenance standpoint it may end up being very impractical. We'll see. More when it's up.

First off, I love the gallery!!! Thanks, and if I ever get any cels that come with backgrounds, I'll be sure to make them available for everyone.
One other way that I have been dealing with backgrounds, is I have been using sheets of memory-book paper. You can find these at any craft store, and they usually don't cost that much. I make sure the sheets I buy are acid- and lignin-free (even though they don't touch my cels). Solids can be used to provide contrast, while patterned ones can be used to recreate a scene or make a new one. For example, I used a blue sky sheet on my "Ready" cel (Escaflowne)to mimic the sky seen at that point in the show and I created my own scene using a sunset sheet on my "Inuyasha and Kagome" cel, since there is no way I am going to try to figure out what episode/cut/etc that cel is from ^_^
Just a thought.
