the color of money: orange?
Looks like the recent gallery updates and recent sponsor updates on the home page are now seperate
Forgot why I came in here. Now I remember: home page was redone to force a minimum of the 3 latest sponsor updates on the home page. It may be hard to understand at first, but just let it cycle for a few hours and it might start making sense.

Hope this is an improvement.

Hmm, yeah I guess if the words were in Japanese for the rank, then they'd be recognizable by their color, but silver and platinum are too close in color for that to work.

I don't think military ranks sounds like a guy thing, I'm a girl and I suggested it! I'm almost offended by the idea that wouldn't appeal to me because I'm female. ^_~ (hehehe)

The only other thing I can think of is gems, but metals are probably better.

It's good that the donations build up over time, that's a very fair way to do it. You're right, it would get really crowded with $1 donors, I hadn't thought of it in that way.

JN, if you really want to give back to the sponsors, here is an idea. For every buck a person donates, they get a raffle ticket. From this buck, you take, half or a quarter of it. Now, you either do this once a year, bi or quarterly. Now, with the funds set aside, you can do a few diff things. The normal standard lotto, randomly pick a number and that person wins. Or have a second and third prize pot as well. Depending on how much you have though will dictate that idea. Or, if you want to embrace going commercial corperate ect, with that fund, you can hook up with a anime goods or cel site. They match what you have, or whatever difference, and have a cool prize.

as far as the ranking system, it should something most people are familar with. i like the jap military idea, but make it ancient japan. Samurai, Shogon, Damiyo Emperor and have little icons match them!

Err.... correct me if I'm wrong, but is it legal to hold a pay-to-play lottery? Across state lines? Internationally? (A few donors from Brazil, Italy, UK, Canada, and other locales.) It's a good idea, but it seems like it would be bad for my health.

As for ranks, if they're going to be military ranks, does anyone know an anime title that everyone has seen (i.e. evangelion) that has a weird make-believe set of military rankings? I'd kind of prefer an anime-ish theme if we're going to replace the medallions. Don't want to use specific characters, just the "back story".

Right now, the ranks are intuitive, just not very interesting. If I had to pick only one, I'd choose "intuitive".

Spent most of the day running errands, rest of it should be on the site unless the call of free bratwurst (on Saturday afternoons, don't miss if you live in Austin, TX: http://www.draughthouse.com/) is too strong.

ah see, its donations though. its not gambeling. if you want, i could research it to see what all one needs to do this. but honestly, i highly doubt its illegal or anything. the winner is basicaly getting a gift, your donating, so your not really betting ect.
