Happy 10th Birthday, Rubberslug!

Heh. In 2001 I had about ten cels. Now I have ... er ... more than that.

Stuff now that I had in 2001 that I don't have in 2011:

A bad dog and a feisty cat (both, alas, now on the rainbow bridge, BFF).
A job teaching 18-year-olds basic literacy skills.
An office jam-filled with books and papers (now partly recycled into toilet paper, partly in the archives of my university).
A big two-story colonial house in "Country Club Estates" with about a half acre of land around it.
A high-school-senior daughter who was bubbling all over about Gundam Wing (she's now all grown up and saving Connecticut, and has decided that Escaflowne was a much better series than GW).

Still have:

A wife
Hearing aids
A toe that tells me when thunderstorms are coming.
A garden.

Things I have in 2011 that I didn't have in 2001

A much smaller home with a mosquito hatchery in the back yard.
Otakon t-shirts from 2004, 2005 and 2006
Anime Next t-shirts from 2009 and 2010 (didn't like the 2011 one)
A stack of archival boxes filled with gengas
Peace of mind.

Congratulations, Jason, on creating something that has encouraged me to obtain most of the things in the last list, especially the peace of mind.

Hmmm..wow, RS is ten years old. I guess that means that you'll soon have pics of Justin Bieber plastered all over here...

10 years ago, I was in college and had the following items -

- An apartment I shared with a vet student.
- Vet student's cat who enjoyed headbutting my bedroom door at 2am.
- My white Mercury Villager, the Virgin Van.
- An unhealthy obsession with grilled chicken quesadillas served at the Memorial Union.
- Far too many Pokemon and Sailor Moon cards lying around..

But now...

- A house with a bird living in the attic that the HOA has yet to respond to...
- A miniature dachsund who is too smart for her own good.
- My silver RAV4 with the word 'baka' on a plastic sign in the back window.
- An unhealthy obsession with my Mirro Popcorn Popper.
- Badges and lots of artwork from all the anime conventions I've attended.
- The ability to discern which frames are key and which are not.
- Still too many cels and backgrounds, but at least they're neatly organized (thanks Daiso!).

Here's hoping that the next ten years are good ones for RS and for you too, Jason.
