Copy Backgrounds?
Find someone who has the original and have 'em make you a copy. Curt often provides copy backgrounds with his AMG cels.
I am not looking to sell any of my cels.I just want to have the copy backgrounds made to make them look more visually appealing to myself.I can not paint cels myself but perhaps someone around here knows of someone I could hire for such work?

I recommend Sletia's suggestion if your trying to do that for yourself. :) May save you some money if you chose that option instead of hiring an artist to paint some backgrounds for you.
Most of my copy backgrounds came with the cel. Most likely, a dealer somewhere along the line made the copy to make the cels sell for more. I've also had luck with getting other collectors to make me scans, and then taking them to Kinko's and printing them out.

Ok so I'm going to embarrass you a lil but klet here was really sweet and kind enough to take time out of schedule to make a hi-res scan of her original bg and send me the file so that my sequence mate cel could have its the matching copy. Arrigato Klet!!!! ^O^
*big hugs!!*
If you can't, however, find a sequence mate buddy who has the bg or copy, there is another method!
One I have done is take a really good screencap of the shot I have, and paint in w/ photoshop (using the brushes and clones tool) and digitally erase out where my cel would lie, so I'm left w/ just the bg. Then I take it and print it at a shop and spray mount it to a stiff bristol board and cut to size and voila! Instant copy matching bg! ^_^
It takes a lil work but nothing more exact than the actual screenshot.
