Front-page Shop Items
This discussion began as a result of one individual's concern about viewing RS at work, not because of any potential legal issues. That point was raised later on. And, while the potential for legal issues may in fact be a very real concern, RS has weathered the internet censorship storm for more than 7 years with only a "clever disclaimer at the bottom of the page." Since we are not lawyers, however, perhaps it would be best if we left the legal posturing to someone with a proper legal background. We would like to say, though, that the idea of Matt being targeted as a result of all of this is, as Beatrush said, sickening. It might be better if those who have issue with hentai items on the front page take things up with the site owner instead.

betsuni-I don't think it's fair to blame matt if 2 or more of his hentai cels ended up on the front page. I think it's part of the coding in the shop where recent uploads are given more priority for viewing over old ones. And like he already stated, he was given permission by one of the mods beforehand.
I still don't understand why all of a sudden people are concerned about legal action and the site being suitable for viewing when like I said, some uncensored adult art/violent scened thumbnails can be seen through a simple RS search.
A few things for the record.
I was asked by Matt a while back in RS Chat if Hentai cels are allowed to be sold in the RS shop.
We have never had any restriction as to having them being sold. The only thing I did say was that they needed to be censored.
There has in past Hentai cels sold in the shop that never caused any problems.
The scans of the cels Matt put in were never submitted to anyone for approval nor was such a request ever made.
I truly guess what caused the uproar was the amount that was uploaded on the one day hence they seemed to show a least 1 or 2 on the front page during most login's. Thought honestly with my work schedule the few times I have logged in during the last few weeks I never saw any till a few days after the first post by Miss Z. Blind luck or Murphy's law I guess.
Also even though the cels were "censored" that which was done was the "Bare" Minimum of pixels and as many pointed out left they little to the imagination.
I did make the request that those be rescaned with more coverage making them more "worksafe" and suggested that a message be put into the desription that the seller would be willing to send a better uncensored scan to anyone who was interested in possible making a purchase.
Well, Before any action could be taken is seems that some decided it was "better" to send harrassing emails to Matt which resulted in his deciding to pull his cels from the shop.
Real Adult actions there! I also find it sad that the only email I recieved as a Mod here was from one person who never posted in the thread alerting me to the thread.
I and the other Mod's will be discussing with Jason if any changes need to be done to the shop to eliminate future problems. Recoding of the shop I doubt can be done. I'll report on what we decide.

Howdy. I've been a bad, bad admin. Haven't been checking these boards as often as I should.
We *do* need a "not safe for work" (NSFW) type tag in place. The shop area was built under different assumptions in a different time and -- much like the rest of the site will -- it needs to evolve.
If you can flag postings as "adult-oriented" and then if I make sure on my side that they don't pop in on the home page, is that a good compromise?

That would be an excellent compromise ^_^.
