Front-page Shop Items

There's a huge difference, IMO, between a nude henshin or bank cel and a hentai cel. I don't care how many nipples are blocked out with little black boxes, tentacle rape still looks like exactly what it is -- tentacle rape. There really isn't any way to disguise that and make it "family safe/friendly" without totally obliterating the image. It still looks like tentacle rape even in a small thumbnail. I already don't let my child look at Rubberslug because I feel a good deal of what is on here isn't appropriate for her to see. And she is only allowed to look at certain sections of my gallery -- and only when I look with her. But, if she walks into the room while I'm looking at the site, I can't control what pops up on the front page. This was my only concern in posting in this thread. I have nothing against hentai cels. I have nothing against people who collect them. I have nothing against people who want to sell them. Matt: I don't think anyone implied that you did anything wrong in listing your cels for sale. That certainly was not my intention in posting here, and I apologize if it seemed that way. I definitely think you have as much right to sell any cel you like as anyone else. And, if I'm in the minority on this issue, then so be it. I'll just stop accessing RS during the day when my daughter is around. It's an easy fix, really. Good luck with your sales. =)

We have to echo what tex just said -- we don't think anyone blames you, Matt. You're just trying to sell your stuff. What we do think is that Rubberslug should allow you to post those cels for sale in a specific adult area so that folks like the rest of us don't have to see them unless we choose to look. ^_~ It is those who really believe that it's ok to post semi-censored images (which, just like tex pointed out, no matter what you block out, tentacle rape looks like tentacle rape) on the RS main page that we disagree with. We're sorry if you got the idea that we were attacking you, Matt, that wasn't our intention either. Just our two cents... we're done on this subject since it's pretty unlikely that it'll ever amount to anything ^_~.

Well I said my piece as well so like Betsuni I'm done. Matt we're not blaming you specifically nor your sales. In fact I think it brought up a couple of things that weren't addressed by the site before or weren't given much thought of. I'm not sure if anything will be done about improving this situation for both you and I (and others). It's really up to RS how they plan to handle it but seeing that it was already cleared with a mod, then I guess RS is okay with it. Just to be clear we certainly don't want to limit your sales, that's really not the purpose of this. I do apologize if this has caused you some stress.

I applaud the arguments given for a new hentai section (one that doesn't show up on the front page). I suppose all I can add at this point (perhaps a bit selfishly, I guess) is that I do not want to see those thumbnails up on RS's homepage. Frankly, every time I visit, I see the same three hentai thumbs (the other thumbnails change, though). I don't see why I and other visitors should be subjected to pornographic images without actively seeking them out. In general, I find the hentai offshoot of our community to be very polite in labeling their artwork so that people will not stumble upon it in their internet wanderings. It would be nice to see the same courtesy here. ^_^ Plus, I really think the RS shop could use some new sections . . . that "Other" one is way too big to browse.
