Fan cels... how to do lines on the front

Hi all !

Just a small question... I was looking into the fancel thingy and was planning to try in once myself... I don't think I'll do a good job like other fancel artists out there but I just wanted to try it at least once.

Anyway, I've read some online tutorials about painting the actual cel 'n stuff... but none of the tutorials talk about the lines on the front of the cel... I've read about some of them beign Xeroxed on there but I have no idea how to do that ... Any ideas or suggestions ? I honestly don't see myself doing such a detailed job manualy with my current material...

Grtz,
Kim.

I am also interested in trying to paint some fruit basket characters....I have a talent for drawing what I see. Have you begun the process of purchasing your supplies yet? I have tried to find some information on line but cannot seem to google it correctly....to find out the information I need

Do you mean the black lines, or the colored lines? Either way, both are probably done with specialized pens. I can't remember what kind, though. I read about them on a fancel tutitorial, though. Coor-something, I think? Radiograph? I'm not entirely sure.

On the cels I made for art class, we just used fine tiped perminet markers.

I use Sakura microperm pens since they are nonporous.
They also come in a variety pack much like prismacolor markers, which I use if I have to retouch a colored line on a cel I own.

Personally, I don't think you will find many professional copy joints that will let you have a line drawing xeroxed on acetate since it can seriously screw up the machine if its not made to handle plastic. (some copiers are thou.)

You'd have to call ahead and ask if their machines can do 'overhead' prints. If they can, chances are you can xerox the acetate so you don't have to trace the liines by hand. ^_^
But again, the microrperm microns work just fine for tracing on the front.

Hope this info helps.
