Fan cels... how to do lines on the front

For professional results use a Rapidograph Khodi-Noor pen with black -or- colored ink made for acetate that matches the highlight contrast. The steel pen nib actualy cuts a micro groove in the cel acetate and the waterproff ink settles in nicely. This is how I saw them do it at Toei studios when I toured it. warning ~ these pens are expensive!

The two fancel workshops I've been to at various conventions (Steve Bennett's panel and one from some other fansub artist group), they did it the easy way. They used a line drawing and photocopied it onto transparency film (like you would use in an overhead projector) and had us paint directly on there. You can buy transparencies at any office supply store - just make sure it's the kind that is safe to use in copy machines. The other kind will melt. You can also buy transparencies to use in the printer. It's probably not great material for high quality archival stuff, but it's cheap and easy for a practice material.

Hello,

When I make my fancels =>

http://natcels.rubberslug.com/gallery/master_query.asp?SeriesID=23648

I
use ? permanent black fine pencil (do not use a Rapidograph. or Rotring)

I draw the lines on the front, but for my last fancel I made (Sakura and Shaolan) I drawn on the back, the same side where I painted.

I don't know if it's help you.
and sorry for my bad english (I'm french...)

See you
