Advice on prospective cel

I'm a first time buyer and I found something I like. Does it look like this cel is damaged? Or maybe the camera is just crappy?

It looks to me like there is old Scotch tape on the corners of the cel that has yellowed a little bit. The cel looks like it consists of more than one layer and I bet someone taped them together. You will also find cels like this that are stapled together. It would be a pretty safe bet that if the tape has been on there long enough to turn yellow that the cels are probably stuck together as well. Not really that big of a deal unless you absolutely must have cel layers that are not stuck. Otherwise it looks fine to me.

Thanks for the reply, I have no problem with the corners, I'll have my brother custom frame it. But the top left of the picture, the character's hand is... fuzzy... do you think thats maybe from a damaged/old layer or possible the camera he used to take the pic? Sorry from all the questions but I really want my first cel experience to be pleasurable ;)

It looks like an old cel, and possibly stuck to the sketch. I see a crinkle in the top left that looks like it's paper.
I wouldn't expect this one to be pristine, but it looks pretty nice.
Plus, it's a pretty good clue the sketch is stuck if they don't show a seperate picture of the sketch. ~_^

As Mok mentioned, I would expect the layers to be firmly stuck together.
I would take the tape off when it came in, but don't worry about seperating the layers.
If there is a sketch stuck to it, I would carefully try to work that off.

Backlotanimation has posted various ways of doing that here in the forum. Just gotta look for it...

Cool, thanks for the advice. It's Yupa from Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, so yea, it's a pretty old cel... older than me anyway :x
