Ebay: my small dillema

Ok, so, I've been using E-bay for a long time now and it seems to me that whenever anything concerning an auction changes before and after, there's always an e-mail from E-bay. You've been out bid, auction has ended, payment required, etc. However, I've only sold with e-bay two times and am not truly familiar with that side of things.

My dillema, and question to all you who've sold on E-bay before is: when the buyer goes through "MyEbay" to pay for an auction using paypal, does the seller then receive an e-mail from E-bay stating the item has been paid for. I guess I'll also pose the same question for paypal, when a payment is made is any notification e-mailed to the one receiving the money?

Even if no notifications are sent, wouldn't you think as the seller, to check to see if the item was paid for when you clearly state in the auction that you require payment with a short and certain time frame?

I'm not trying to start anything with anyone, nor am I necessarily going to leave negative feedback with this individual.

I just think that assumpstions were made on both mine and the seller's part, and I just want some clarification since I'm not a veterened E-bay seller, that's all.

So I ask for your help. Thank You!

I also have recieved email confirmations from ebay & paypal.

One question , have you sent a contact email to the buyer or sent an invoice? Even though you placed a timeframe in you auction notice, you still should have contact via email to confirm method of payment, be it paypal or mailed money order.

Hi Magpiemc. I tell you about my experience as a seller on eBay.

Every time I've had a buyer pay for an auction on eBay when they use the 'pay now' button, my item will have an icon next to it letting me know that the payment has been made (sorry can't remember if eBay sends me a notification of payment, I think they do but I just can't remmeber at the moment).

Also when they pay with paypal I USUALLY receive an email from paypal letting me know I have new funds in my account. Now, there have been times that paypal DID NOT send me a notification email of those new funds but as a seller I check my paypal account everyday just to make sure to check if a payment had or had not been sent by the buyer.

Also usually when I get a payment I will let the buyer know it's has or has not been received by me ESPECIALLY if I give a certain time frame for the payment to arrive to me.

You should receive an email from PayPal when the item is paid for. I don't believe I've ever received one from eBay. However, eBay updates the auction to show that payment was sent.

The problem is that these things don't always happen. And on other occasions, it may take some time. In these circumstances, you need to check your PayPal account, as Sugarflower says.
