petition for old dub on Totoro
Dude, Gabe,
What the hell? I notice that no matter what is said you always have to beat down everyone. I feel that englished dubbed anime cannot compare to the original japanese voices. There is nothing ignorant about that statement at all. Maybe instead of spending so much money on your cels you should invest it in some counciling. You are obviously are very angry person.

Thats fine if you feel that way - nobody is asking you to listen to dubs. My point was it was pretty rude to come into a thread about a particular dub and just threadcrap. If you didn't care about the Totoro dub why post in the first place?
And I'm cranky!

Now, now.. everyone take a deeeeep breath... hold it 5 counts.... and now exhale.... ahhh...
Starbucks time! =)
Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents here about english dubbing: Specifically for Totoro: without an english dub my kid would not be able to fully absorb this magical movie (as he can not read yet...or understand japanese). For this reason alone I'm for dubbing. I do prefer most anime that's aimed at older audiences in it's original dialog. There are exceptions. For example, in my opinion Cowboy Bebop is better in the English dub version. On the other hand the group that did the English dub for Neon Genesis Evangelion should be shot, drawn and quartered, tarred and feathered, shot again and then forced to pay a hefty fine. Oh yea...wasn't this supposed to be about signing a petition and not about our opinions on dubbing? I guess this is what happens when you have passionate collecters abound! We're all crazy. So...ok...yea. I'll sign your petition. My kid watched that version over and over again. And when my 1 year old is a little older..he'll watch it too.
~Peace and best regards,
Mark
I seriously doubt that Disney will even give the slightest thought to any petition asking for a the restoration of the old dub track.
I think it has more to do with the licence of the original being owned by 20th century Fox.
The Fox dvd's are still out there to be bought and in some cases may be at a discount now that the new Disney ones are out for sale.
If you truly prefer the Fox dub cast I believe your best off buying the older dvd.
