a bit of a dilemma
Hi all I'm new here and to cel collecting and I bought a cel of sakura card captor when it arrived this morning the sketch and cel were separated by some kind of tissue paper aand the paperwas over the painted side of the cel is it meant to be there or should I take it off?
I'd be grateful of any advice

Hello and welcome. Is the paper stuck to the cel? This is a common problem with cels and sketches, they can become stuck together. This usually happens on the back, or painted side of the cel not the side you view it from. Over time if the sketch was stored with the cel (again usually behind it) the paint on the cel will become stuck to the sketch and they usually cannot be seperated without damaging either the sketch or the cel or both. It is quite possible that this tissue paper was put there to prevent the cel becoming stuck to the sketch and ruining your piece of art. This blank piece of tissue paper is extra and you can throw it away.
If it is stuck to the sketch you can remove it by wetting it with a damp cloth until the paper softens and falls apart (the water will not harm your cel in anyway). Whatever you do don't pull on the paper because paint from your cel might come off on the paper and ruin the cel. Whatever you decide to do, never store a sketch with a cel. Always keep them seperated.
I hope this helps.
Mok is very wise indeed!

Thanks for the info I've taken the tissue off and all is ok.
Thanks again

A few of my cels have the same thing. Do they have to be removed to prevent damage to cels?
By the way, the paper you're refering to is it rice paper?
