Things that make you go hmm? (Part Deux)

Hmmmm? What's up with that?


Why are most of all anime characters all so young? I don't mean reality young (18-28) I mean straight up kids (10-17). Actually 17 might be considered a little old for the anime world.
Doesn't it make JUST A LITTLE MORE sense for an 25 year old to save the world instead of 13 year old?

Why so young? It's not like most of the anime fans are that young. Most of the people that attend anime conventions or members of anime clubs are 18+, and that's pretty much the same for Japan too. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think very young characters are as silly as very old characters unless the part calls for it. (It's OK to mix it up once in a while but that's it)

If the anime is about the lives of kids in school like elementary or junior high it's understandable but if the task is more serious like killing people and creatures and saving countries and so on then no.

Again, in a group situation usually the leader is the oldest the most experienced one. In the Anime world it's the opposite. The leader usually is the youngest and he/she would lead a few people his age or close to his age and few oldfarts.(28 year olds)

Does anybody know why?

Exactly!!
I would never in real life hound a fifteen year old kid!!!!

And I still swear that is NOT the bod of a fifteen year old kid! (Ichigo) (Technically sixteen now, but still!)


Oh, wait, I guess my left-turn-at-Alberquerque was more of the "Why are they young school kids, but given the bodies of twenty-somethings?!"

I do really think this is b/c of cultural thing. This is not only in anime but pretty much everything in Japan... :( (Aaaggggg I hated it!!!)

I am from Japan (I speak Engrish instead of English :P) and the biggest reason why I came to the US was age problem!!!!

I am a math prof. in a university right now and I came to the US about 11 years ago.
When I was 18, just before taking the entrance exam, my dad became really sick (heart attack) I had to manage our family business in Japan. So, I worked in my parents' company for about 5 years.

I really really wanted to go to a university in order to be a mathematician. But by that time, it was pretty hopeless to get in any university for me b/c I was too old. So I decided to go to UC Berkeley instead.

Also another thing I hate abou this is if you want to apply for a job you have to write your age in your resume!!!!! Esp. if you are a woman and if you are over 27, you might not get a job (they want to hire less than 25 years old women!!!)!!!

This is b/c some part of Japanese culture is traditional. Some ppl think that women get married when they are around 25 or so (and they think women should stay home after marriage!)

I love my culture, don't take me wrong.... But I do hate some part as well.... :(

Wow kittens, **too old** to go to university? That is rough.

And Leah, if you think: Rukia said she was a couple of hundred years old, so everyone wearing Shinigami robes must be really old, therefore Ichigo in shinigami robes is much older than he appears. That's my story for Ishida and I'm sticking to it. >.<
