Good Manga Reads

I have slowly come to the realization that I am far better off spending my money on manga than DVDs. Since it has been horribly slow at my job lately, I have been bringing in 2 or 3 manga a night to read. While this has been good for a while, I have run out of stuff to read and am now at the point where I need to wait for stuff to get translated and released...

I was hoping some of you out there could help me out with some suggestions. Below is a list of the titles I have thoroughly enjoyed thus far:

3x3 Eyes
Akira
Battle Angel + Last Order
Battle Royale
Berserk
Bleach
Chrno Crusade
Death Trance
Dominion
Fullmetal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell
Naruto
Naussica
Oh My Goddess
Priest
Ray
Rurouni Kenshin
Sakura Taisen
You're Under Arrest

The following are the ones I have read and thought were ok:

Appleseed
Blade of the Immortal (first 4 only)
Kamunagara: Rebirth of the Demonslayer
Petshop of Horrors

The following I didn't care for:

Hellsing
Saber Marionette
Samurai Deeper Kyo
Uzumaki
Vagabond

The following are titles I was thinking about picking up:

Full Metal Panic!
Gunsmith Cats
Lone Wolf and Cub

With all that said does any have any suggestions? Does anyone recommend me staying away from some of the titles I was thinking about?

I have a pile of manga that I'm slowly adding to as well. I made it a rule to watch and read separate titles. I made the mistake of reading Inu Yasha for up to #14, then watched the entire anime and totally lost the desire to read anymore manga. Now I'm stuck with a pile of IY manga I don't want to continue since I know the story.

Anyway, titles I'm reading,

'Samurai Executioner'- kinda like the 'prelude' to your 'Lone Wolf and Cub.'

'BLade of the Immortal'- you only thought it was 'ok?' I absolutely LOVE this series and was so eager to get my grubby hands on #14 at AX.

'Peacemaker'- a bit of an interesting read since I love anything Shinsengumi-related. It's so hard to resist watching the anime!

'Saiyuki'- Another series that I must resist watching the anime. They can't pump these out fast enough. >.<

If you're into shoujo,

'Dolls'- a rather strange collection of stories about living dolls that are shaped like little girls that are actually plants! A nice delve into the darker side of human nature, and rather creepy at times.

'The Wallflower'- a surprising instant love of mine. A morbid, people- hating, fashion- disaster teen girl is forced to live with 4 young hot guys. Hilarious when they are instructed to turn her into a classy 'lady' to get free rent from their landlady.

There are more, but that's all I can type for now. :)

When it comes to 'Blade of the Immortal', I only think it's ok because it seems like the story will turn into Manji killing the "swordsman of the week" pretty soon. I really like both Rin and Manji, but the story doesn't seem to have a lot to it. I may be judging it too soon though...

It sounds like 'Samurai Executioner' needs to get tacked on to the list. I guess I missed that one while looking through Rightstuf's website...

I wanted to wait on 'Peacemaker' until I finished watching the series. I've been warned that it is completely different and I may not like it...

I may give 'Saiyuki' a shot. One of my friends has been trying to get me to watch the anime for a while...

While I'm not big on the Shoujo art style, the premise of 'Dolls' seemed kind of like 'Petshop'. I may have to see if I can thumb through a copy and see if it is worth a shot...

Oh, please give 'BoI' another try. Manji does kill a lot in the beginning, but he lays off on the bloodfest later on. The other characters will be definately be the focus and Manji almost a background character in a few chapters.

I also love Rin and her character development as she continues to pursue Anotsu. What really drew me in is how the story develops more around the characters and not so much Manji anymore. The so-called 'bad-guys' will be featured more and further is explained on the 'why's.' There are a few really sad moments and the characters I started off hating are now my favorites. Rin does break free from Manji later on, and she sure has a lot more guts than she appears to have.

I better not give any more spoilers!

I think I just may start a few more series that you mentioned. XD

If your reading 3X3 eyes bad new cause Dark Horse has stopped publishing it. To continue the story check out the fan-tranlation site www.sazanquest.com and pickup where you are at in their mirror sites.

Other manga to look at, Remote (sort of like Jeffery Deaver's the Bone Collecter only with a little hentai thrown in. Ai Yori Aoshi , Kare Kano , AI love you , Love Hina & Negima.
