Ninja Scroll - any recommendations ?

Thanks for your dedication in trying to reach me !

I have just made the order 2 minutes ago and bought that AMAZING Benisato profile from Anime-Link. I am so excited as this is my first ever cel and to get a Ninja Scroll cel as my first is a real joy and honor.

At first I wanted Jubei but I am more drawn to female characters and my sister (who is majoring in japanese culture and art) pointed me to the fact that Benisato profile is a true work of art asthetically - Her smile is so subliminal and unique and also considering that it's a key cel that comes with the douga - I am so excited - it really hypnotic in my mind - this cel.

I have also went yesteraday to watch again the Ninja Scroll DVD and find that exact cel on the movie - I was surprised to find that you cannot even see the whole cel in the movie as it is partly hidden behind the snakes so you actually miss that amazing smile of hers in the movie and the cel reveals it for me and others for the first time - that excites me even more.

I have read almost every Cel FAQ on the net for the last week or so and I feel comfortable that I took the plounge - I am now reading all I can on framing cels and found this source to be the best as it comes with animated GIFs that simply show you and the framer what to do:

So usefull and much better than just text - especially for those of us who do not speak english as our mother tongue.

I will create and post it in a gallery as sson as I get it.

This is a hobby that will drain you dry. When I started in 1999, I'd buy the first rarest cels I seen, and these would be medium quality cels, ie. stuck to the pencil sketches and with the character to the far left of the cel, not an entirely large image to say the the least, then months later I could of kicked myself becauyse there was a couple more cels of that character (s) appearing on the net, only higher quality. Trust me it is worth waiting for a couple of months even half a year for your dream cel to show up, otherwise your just going to end up trying to sell the lesser of your cels to make money for your higher purchases/bids.

Welcome to the game. I can definitely attest to the whole waiting thing and "scanning through DVD" excercise. The weird thing about anime cel collecting is that you end up keeping a short (or possibly long) wishlist. And then you just sit on it, while admiring other collectors who have satisfied some of their wislist items.

Every few months, something on your list will come up... and sometimes you have to make a split-second decision whether or not to drop a good deal of money on something.

Patience is good. Have fun out there.
