LCD Tablet?
Any artist types out there have any experiences with this device?

It's an LCD monitor that has a large Wacom tablet built behind the screen. Of course, this monster is a lot of plays on the lobster machine so I don't think I'm getting one anytime soon... but I'm awfully curious is anyone has any real-life experience opinions about it.
Hello Jason,
The Mercedes dealer I work for has their own in house advertising unit that recently purchased one like this. It is quite trick but I think they spent close to $6,000 for it though that might have included other modules and software programs.

Ouch. Well, apparently the 21" model that's coming out if $2500 and the 17" model is $1800. You could get a nice used car for that price, though. Seeing as the only two things of relative value I have are my organs and this website, I don't think I'll be trading up anytime soon.
Don't suppose you've managed to sneak a personal first-hand peek at the device? Was curious to hear about how the surface texture compares to the "tooth" of an average sketchpad and if the stylus being a little bit off the image you're working on is bothersome. General impressions would be nice, too. (Is it too heavy to hold in your lap? Does the pressure sensitivity differ from, say, a normal Wacom graphic tablet? etc. etc.)
If not, that's totally cool. Anything with more than 3 digits in the price tag is enough to scare me away for a while anyway.
I have not been able to play with it personally.
What I saw of it in use they had it flat on a drafting table and the person was using it with the stylus like he was writing on a sheet of paper it seem to be more natural than most of the pda's. At that time they were making large "Red" tags for a model close out sale. They seem to be pleased with it but I have found most teckies just love new toys to play with.
Some further info.
The one they got was the 21ux for around $3000 at the same time they bought a sony tower to work with it which accounts for the $6000 figure I was given. I asked today for a little demo and most of the tech stuff was over my head. He had different "pens" that when from a fine penlike line to one that acted more like a paint brush.
The cut & paste and other functions were done quicker than with a mouse as was the edit changes.
The guy showing me stated that this unit made his job so much easier.
I hope this helps.
