Probably impossible idea!
Ever seen one of those signs at your local movie/book store?
If you like This Author, try This other author.
I'm guessing we could never, ever do that.
My mind is fried after filling out grad school applications all day- I have no idea what you said, zag! 4 different themes?
I better get some sleep and read this tomorrow. o_oZzzzz
With cel galleries, that's what the "friends list" thing was supposed to be. There's supposed to be some capability to link to other people who collect similar series.
If you meant actual shows (if you like Slayers you might like Lost "Slayers in Space" Universe), then that requires a lot of data. It's notoriously easy to poison suggestion systems either accidentally or not. It's usually phrased in much weaker terms, such as "customer who bought x also bought y, z, and q". The word "like" is avoided. (Would now be a bad time to mention that I did some of the earliest experiments with this as it applies to online stores back in the late 90s? My one claim to fame. ^_^ )
Maybe someday. The amount of knowledge the system requires (meaning links between shows) spread out over the number of shows available would probably require a user base several hundred times ours.
As it goes though, I could not find a keyboard small enough for my set of programming sea monkies. So it goes on the back of my uncomfortably long work queue and the sea monkies keep the lobsters healthy and happy. (What *do* lobsters eat? Is it whales that eat brine shrimp? I think it is.)
I...umm...point out the Anime-Planet website in my "Links" section. Just pick a show under "Reviews" and it gives a little background (w/the option for more info), reviews (obviously), plus around 3 or 4 other shows you might like that are similar. And yes, they have a huge data base. ^_^
