Ratings: Dare I ask?
i dont see why not. sounds like a great idea.
I think it'd be helpful to be able to leave comments when you rate a gallery so the people would know more of exactly what someone liked or didn't like about it. And keeping the ability to leave it anonymously or to leave your name there if you want would be nice.

Yes! I think this would be far more useful than the current rating system. I'd much rather leave someone a comment of "your white text is hard to read on the light blue background" than just give them a low rating for presentation and let them guess what was wrong.
I don't really want my gallery to be rated, but I'd be happy to receive comments with constructive criticism to improve it.

But isn't that what the feedback thing is for? You can be completely anonymous there, too, just don't enter any real information. I think the rating comments thing would be used about as often as the feedback link. And if it were mandatory, you'd get a whole lot of useless comments from people who don't want to say anything.

That's sorta been my informal opinion on it the whole time, but it really points to people not being encouraged to say anything. Might as well make it a one-step process.
Incidentally, sponsors can now see ranked galleries. Realistically, the "collection" section has the most standout entries. Some things are in weird places -- notably my gallery -- which I assume people were using to test the rating system way back when.
On a totally unrelated side note, tooltips have returned for Firefox/NS users.
