site voting: they hated me
Doesn't bother me. I don't pay too much attention to the meter & if someone gives me a low score I say so what. I am very happy with my collection and the cels I have up appeal to my taste & no score will ever take that away from me. :)
To be honest, I care about my score and would like to have the best gallery on RS.
Is that wrong? No, it's just a little ambition of mine. It's nice to be good at something and get some recognition. I'm sure we all feel that way.
The problem I recently had was that someone voted my gallery 3 times in 1 day bringing my scores down from:
Presentation- 9.06 ---> 8.97
Gallery- 9.25 ---> 9.18
Overall- 9.14 ---> 9.07
I consider that quite a drop for only 3 votes out of 58.
Maybe you're thinking I'm petty, egotistical etc, these little things niggle me because I put a lot of effort into my gallery.
What made me post here was after something I achieved yesterday. I scanned and cleaned up a large hanken cel which took over 3 hours.
To then post it and someone rate me 1-5 out of 10 pisses me off. It's like my efforts are thrown to one side.
I know of a few people that have removed their ratings for such a reason, so it must be upsetting for anyone who's proud of their work and may be sensitive to harsh criticism.
So as a suggestion, it may be an idea to display the usernames of people who have voted on a particular day. This info would only be visible to the gallery owner once signed in and not a public feature.
As least this way we could identify if someone's abusing the voting process, or simply get in touch with them to ask for constructive ways in which we could improve the gallery.
Krafty, the same thing happened to me! I check my ratings every couple of days or so and today I noticed that my vote count had gone from 57 to 61 since the last time I checked. I thought that was a little strange since I get maybe 1 new vote every 1-2 months on average. The drop in my scores because of those 4 votes was very similar to yours and a *lot* bigger drop than I've ever seen since I turned my ratings on.
The coincidence seems very fishy to me. Hey, I don't mind low ratings if you truly dislike my gallery, but this really seems like it could have been done maliciously. If it was, it's sad that someone would go through the trouble of doing that.

Yeah...Plenty of ppl do that James. It's a shame really. I was always the pioneer for the "Show who voted what". That would keep ppl a little more honest.
There's also ppl out there who vote low cause' they're DISGUSTED at seeing hentai/yaoi artwork. I remember my ratings dropping quite a bit with my FAKE yaoi fan cel.
I would suggest either dropping ratings for the site altogether, or implememnting a who voted what table for owners to view. But, there's gonna be ppl who will say that would cause more problems, yaddda-yadda-yadda...So, what can you do.
You know I love your stuff James. Seeing those sexy nude asses of my fav ladies from Viper are always a sight to behold.
i only turned on this capability not as a way to seek popularity, nor am I seeking that either, but as gesture of communication between me and the viewer. I just thought it would be a harmless, fun way of communicating feedback if the viewer was shy about communicating with me directly^^.
I don't receive too much votes to begin with--probably because I recieve alot of direct communication and do quite a bit of it too^^--but, I think it is an interesting feature as Leah does.
I also check up on it like Luna-art does just to make sure everything is stationary at a 8.62 Overall. Nothing more. If someone does or does not appreciate my art, that is their choice and I appreciate their concern and voice. But, what I choose to display reflects my aesthetic tastes and I try to reflect my personality with each gallery update. Some of my attempts have been more successful than others; and, I appreciate everyone's voice regardless.
However, I think that using this feature as a subliminal or subjective lashing out against someone is terribly rude and disrespectful as I have read. I have debated in recent weeks whether I should take down this voting feature from my gallery or not as more feedback comes via email.
