SAVE button help?
Hi. At step 2/2 when uploading item image, can you please add somewhere on that page a SAVE button? Currently I've had to go back and then look for the save changes button. It doesn't always appear and this doesn't always work. Please help. thanks.
I just finished replying to a member who seems to have been describing this very same problem. Try as I might, I don't think I understand due to my limited intellect and the early hour and which I choose to work on this site.
Where is a button not appearing? That *really* shouldn't be happening. Do you have the latest version of Internet Explorer? (I recommend 5 or higher on PC, 5.5 or higher on Mac.)
How the "add cel" form works -- and I'll be the first to admit that I don't like how it works right now:
When you put in the information about the cel (name, series, etc.) and hit submit, that saves the cel in the database without a picture. When you upload pictures, you basically add pictures to a cel you already have on your site. If you were to click back and try to edit your cel information, you'd probably end up submitted two identical cels -- so that's not a good idea.
Why this sucks:
- After uploading images, you can't go back to the cel information page. You have to go to the edit page and find your cel to edit it.
- If you scan a bunch of cels, then it's nearly impossible to type in the cel info first and then pick a matching scan -- and to make sure that you uploaded all your cels without some dilligent notetaking.
If you think that the current system stinks for an entirely different reason, it's possible that I might be able to apply some quick fix to it. However, in the meantime if your issue is one of the two things above, it's not easily fixed. (Sorry.) It *WILL* be fixed, though!
*** Here's my workaround that I personally use: ***
- For cel info, enter a space for the name and select the right series. That's all the information you need for the form to submit.
- Select pictures as usual.
- After adding all your scans, go back to the Manage Cels and go through and describe your cels.
It's a lot easier if you can see all your scans laid out in front of you. One of the features on my personal wishlist is a batch upload that puts a bunch of scans up at one time and lets you pick images from your personal "library" to attach to cel info sheets.... but that's another story.
Hope this helps. If I totally missed the point, feel free to follow up here, by e-mail, or both.
