Slightly off-topic... but I need help...

Well, I wanted to put up screencaps in my wishlist. So I took my avi fansubs, played them on windows media player, and then hit printscreen when the picture I wanted was up. I tried this both by pausing the video at the right spot and doing it while the video was playing.

When I went to paintshop and pasted the image, I got a perfect picture of the windows media player... but the view-screen was completely black like I hadn't been watching anything. I tried many times with several different anime, and nothing worked.

I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, and if it's too off-topic just delete it and message me to not post such things here. I'm just a total computer moron and have no idea why I can't make screencaps for my wishlist.

A lotta the times you'll have this happen b/c of of the embedding...etc...But...Try viewing the file in full screen...prt scrn...and then try pasting that image...Sometimes you have to do it a few time b4 it'll take...

Lemme know if that helps!

You can full-screen and it'll get it? Neat.

A surefire way, though, is to download a program called "virtual dub" -- it's free -- at http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

The
only problem is that it may take some fiddling to get used to. The function you want is "file -> save image sequence".

To do this, open your video, go to "video -> select range" and type in the frame you want under start frame and type "1" under offset. Then do the "file -> save image sequence" and it should save that one frame to disk as an image.

Hope this helps. I'm no expert, so the disclaimer here is that this tutorial may be a bit dodgy.

Tried it several times Tokyo Anime 2. All I ever pasted was a complete black image. =(

Will try that other program though later after work.

It works! Took me a few minutes to set it up right, but now that I got it, it's easy.

Thanks so much!
