anime that sucks
[adminpoll]37[/adminpoll]
I'm watching a bunch of shows I don't like. I'm losing interest in most shows after about five episodes when usually I'm used to watching most things all the way through no matter how good/bad. The pilots are almost always pretty good... but then the rest of the show ends up being pretty bad.
Just saw episode 30 of Wolf's Rain. That was a big, "huh?" Not nearly as criminal as Haibane Renmei, which imo still takes the crown for biggest waste of a good setup in recent memory. In his defense, Abe (?) claimed that the last few episodes were in danger of not running at all because they were late with the script.
Only exception I can think of at the moment is the new Ghost in the Shell 2nd season. The animation looks even more cinematic, they stopped dressing Kusanagi like a cheap hooker, and scrapped that horrible 3D CG opening. Still no telling if the show will stink in spite of all that. Of course, it helps that it's probably one of the most well-funded TV shows on the air right now.
I bet annoying ending song will still win, though. Everyone picks the comedy answer. *sigh*
ps - because i don't feel like posting again, just to let you all know the image sizing thing should be done tonight.

I selected 'boring story.' Although it's rare that I find a title boring, when it is, I can't get pass the first few episodes. ^^*
I can stand annoying OP/END songs and ugly characters, but being boring will make me shut off the TV and just go on the computer.
I picked boring story because I can most likely forgive an anime of all of the other choices. I know a lot of series start out slow or have a boring period but they usually have some redeeming qualities as well.
I must admit that I usually go for the anime that are more visually appealing but my main interest is always in in the story. In a lot of the shows I have watched the endings aren't what I expected, sometimes it upsets me but I still love the series nonetheless. As for the music, there are a few that make me cringe but I can get over that as well.

Okay, so weird what-if question. How about a really good ending. Like, say, The Sixth Sense. Does that make up for the fact that the rest of the movie wasn't really all that exciting?
I guess a better way to word the question would have been "does a good ending/good story/good animation/catchy music ever override the fact that the rest of the show is not up to par?"
Or to use an anime example. I think Evangelion had a really good setup, a fantastic pilot episode (one of the best first episodes I can think of), and a really good ending in the movie (debatable... the one where they're sitting on a beach at the end of the world and Shinji is staring at a lifeless mishmash of the two girls).
So does a really interesting/controversial ending make up for the fact that the rest of the show was essentially a means to an end -- a chain of filler episodes and recap?

Err.. hehe, what makes me hate an anime most.. more than a boring story, ugly characters, etc.. are annoying voices!! Normally, english dubs win it hands down, but some voices are still annoying even in their original japanese context. At least with annoying OP/ED songs I can hit the "skip" button. ;p Though, I guess if the anime had subtitles I could always hit mute (but who would want to do that?) ^_~
