I always thought it might be fun to write a short story and animate it, maybe 7-10 minutes worth of film? But you'd have to make sure you don't write something that sucks, because you'd have maybe 60-80 cuts and a whole ton of sketches to produce. You'd be attached to it for a *long* time. I don't think I could write something that's good enough to validate that.
Oh, let's not forget the fact that my artistic ability is in the stick figure catagory.... maybe slightly better stick figures after trying to learn to illustrate for the past two years or so, but still stick figures on the grand scheme of artistic ability.
So, who else out there has thought about trying it?

I've just started something, although what it'll end up as(If it'll end up as anything at all) is beyond my knowledge. :P
I can't say my artistic skills are the greatest, but I believe I might be able to create something.
What I have in mind for what I've just started is something that should have somewhat the feeling of blending the anime Noir with the game Thief. :)
Too bad there's much to do at school, and resources are pretty limited...
I have the ideas- the story, characters, setting, music, etc. But alas, I haven't the talent to do anything. If I can draw decently, then that would have been a start. V_V*
Well, I've seriously considered making my own webcomic. It's more on the scale of something a person can do by themselves. I think I would need a crew of at least 3-5 helpers to attempt a short animated film.
But hey, there's Hoshi no Koe, which is more or less done by one guy (Makoto Shinkai). He didn't write the music and didn't do the voice acting --the publisher replaced his and his girlfriend's voice acting with professionals.
He can draw, mostly, but he really did use a lot of Photoshop and post-production cleverness to cover up the fact that he doesn't have the timing down for animation.
Good short story though. I think even if you just have a bunch of talking heads or simple animation, story still determines the best from the rest.
I'm actually kind of surprised by the poll, I thought "no" would be a more popular response. Maybe we could get everyone on Rubberslug together to each scan in a cel whose mouth can be animated or the cel itself can be panned back and forth then try writing a coherant story around it. That would be hilarious.
