suggest a server name!

The lobster machine is technically called "Marine Catcher", but that's way too long. Besides, we've had plenty of lobster action already. Hmmm something anime. Famous anime computers? Navi. You're right, that does come to mind first.

The satellite Ed plays chess against in Cowboy Bebop. Don't remember the name.

What was the name of the device that tells the future in Escaflowne? I don't know. That would be kinda neat.

The ship's computer from Nadesico.... uh.... Omoikane? Is that right? I wouldn't mind that. That would give me excuse to decorate it with SD Nadesico stickers and make everyone else at the colocation facility stare at our rack like it's been vandalized by Japanese preschoolers.

Um... what else.

Maybe a robot? Boomer is kinda generic. Ooh, maybe a Transformer. Jetfire. Maybe Grimlock.

Could always just pick a different dead math geek. Fermat. (Only because his name reminds me of cheese.)

If I was buying a blade server (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=blade+server) I'd name it Deckard. I bet everyone does that though. =(

the machine in esca was akwardly called the "fate occilator" or better yet the "fate vibrator" yes, the "fate vibrator" in the hecto fansub.
...he he that gets me every time! I'm so immature

I don't recall my fansubs translating that as a "fate vibrator". I musta had the PG version. Mmmm... maybe the Japanese name (whatever that is) would be more suitable... or... um... family friendly.

"The fate vibrator has been activated, and Hitomi is the only one who can stop it now!" *cough*

Personal note: Another thing to add to my list of dream jobs. Making subversive English translations for a non-English speaking audience.

yeah, and Folken used that thing to change the fortunes of naria & eria but I'm not even going there! It was a really terrible fansub - When Van's mother is talking to hitomi near the end about using her gifts, it was something like "you make some happy and some thing made bad sad as well" I had to really work to make some of that dialogue make ANY sense!

Hmmm...Transformers... ^_^

One that could be kinda neat is Sideswipe (the red Countach) whose motto is "I don't break rules, I bend them...alot!" That kind of philosophy might be helpful!

Wheeljack (he's a Lancia if memory serves) is the 'mad scientist' of the group (I can't remember his motto! Aurgh!) or the Autobot computer that runs the Ark is Teletran One. Jetfire does have a nifty motto "Among mysteries of science lies the key to victory."

You could just cut to the chase and name the thing 'Glitch'. Or if you want to go a bit more high-brow, Schroedinger's Cat has always been a fun mathematical mind-game. ("Here Schroedie, Schroedie, Schroedie!")

Would 'Fermat' cheese be white or yellow? Or is it one of those kinda greeny veined cheeses that smells so strong? And most importantly of all, does Fermat cheese go well with lobster?
