Rumiko Takahashi works
I have also noticed that this happens in american shows as well. The best example I know of is in the animated version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". The Grinch has a many similar traits to Wile E Coyote and other Chuck Jones creations. In fact when Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss)saw the sketches for the Grinch he said they looked like Jones himself.
Your forgot:
Haruhiko Mikimoto (for shame!)
Kenichi Sonoda
Toshihiro Hirano
and misspelled Akemi Takada. :P
I agree only partly, especially with Rumiko's manga style, it has become more streamlined/angular and less peach like. There is no real term for the changes I've observed over the last two decades, but peach like is an accurate description of how Rumiko's original mangas and character designs for the animes looked. You can trace this far back to the early works: Rumic World stories, Laughing Target, Fire Tripper, Mermaid's Forest, Mermaid Scar, Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, One Pound Gospel, and Ranma.
IMO things really started to evolve with Inuyasha though, the style became noticably more angular and less peach like, especially in the anime character designs. Whether or not this is a good thing I don't know, I just know I prefer the older style, especially with Kyoko in the early & final MI episodes, and Lum in the OVAs and movies 1-5. The rounded peach like faces are no longer widely used. This is also evident when studying Kenichi Sonoda's anime designs as well.
I suppose with time more and more character designs will become angular and less peach like, but that is one that I will miss the nice round faces... I know hen. :P
I've not watched Inu or maison yet so no comment.
But you forgotten
Inoue Takehiko :p
Masami Kurumada :D

Dunno if any of you are familiar with Rumiko classic 'mermaid forest'
I havent watched much of the new tv series yet, but will do soon.
But I recall the old ova was quite desturbing when I watched it back in the early 90's on VHS as manga released it.
The feeling is rather unique, similar to vampire princess miyu, but you get to see much darker scenes & mentally disturb your mind for life.
Put me off fish for a while thats for sure.
Anyone else seen it?
Although it wasnt a big hit, I thought it was a beautiful movie yet sick.
*sick* :p...
