problems?

I'm not sure how stable the server is. If you run into anything strange, please let me know.

Specifically:

- If you get "Internal Server Error 500" and possibly a message about an "unexpected quantifier"....

- If you get that "DBConnectionRead" error that was all the rage a few weeks ago...

...let me know about both of these.

If you run into anything else weird, unexpected, flaky, or unusual, feel free to post about that too.

Thanks.

I ran into a chupacabra named Bruce who was wearing blue panties.

Being serious now, the only problems I get is, I think your updating and a error protocol page pops up. That happens randomly though and will work fine if I try again a min later.

Hmmm.... I think that goes under the "unusual" catagory.

But yes, as you've probably all realized, the server is baked once again. I did not expect to be able to bring this site up at all. On Saturday at around 4 AM, I was ready to put up a new home page that would say, "Rubberslug is toast. It's gonna be down for about, oh, a month. Sorry."

I'm leaning now towards a system where we can get monthly sponsors to pledge a monthly donation on a server so we can get one within the next two weeks instead of in two or three months.

I know I've said that I didn't want to make a big deal out of donations, but right now we have two options: a) deal with a half-working site indefinitely, b) panhandle for a few bucks and get it working by the end of January.

I need to do the Paypal programming and such for this so that you can do a monthly thing from the donation page. It would be about a hundred bucks a month. I'm thinking that if we can find 20 people willing to give us five bucks a month -- the cost of one large burrito -- we can make all our problems go away.

(I like to solve my problems in terms of burritos.)

If this sounds like something that you'd be interested in participating in and/or you'd like to know exactly what we're buying, please e-mail me at jason@orchidflux.removethis.com.

Thanks.

The server, as mentioned previously, is not stable. It works and should allow you to update your gallery but you will run into one or more of the following problems:

- images will sometimes refuse to load
- you may have to reload a page several times to get it to load
- forms may have to be submitted more than once for the server to process them correctly

Over the bad weekend, Windows more or less crashed into a state that took pure luck to fix. We are very fortunate that this site works at all at this point, but none of the above problems will be fixed until we can get a new server. We're going shopping right now.
