Cel history
Morning everyone,
Figured it was about time to do this. I started collecting anime cels in 2000. I was walking past a Sam goody in the Woodbridge mall and saw a sailor moon chromo cel, I thought it would be nice to own a cel. I searched the net looking to buy one and met Emma. We talked and she shared her wealth of knowledge with me on the subject. She had recently put a few of her cels on eBay and pointed me to the link. I ended up winning the cels. Getting them was the an even bigger suprise. Didn't think they would be as big as they were. That s what started me on the path of the cel collecters. I have made friends, friemies and the like. Would like to thank everyone in the community for the awesome experience known as cel collecting and a special thanks to Jason for without his awesome gallery I wouldn't have been able to share my treasures. I'm interested in other cel history. If you would like to share that would be cool. Thanks again starfighter

I got my first cel when I was 13. I had been writing to an animator who worked for Spumco, since I was in love with the Ren & Stimpy show at the time. For my birthday, he sent me a cel from my favorite episode, "Stimpy's Invention." I was floored by this gift, and it's a permanent part of my collection, obviously!
I knew a little bit about animation, but I went and read some books about it and learned more. I didn't start collecting other cels until I got a little older. Once I had a steady job and was out of high school, I got into collecting.
I started out by picking up some Dr. Slump cels, and a few from Ganbare Goemon, including my first cel with a matching background, which I still have.
I lurked on RS for a long time before I made my own gallery. I didn't think my collection was all that special. :P
I am also grateful to Jason for creating this site, and to the members who have taken the time to post their collections. It's wonderful to be able to see so much colorful and amazing artwork.
