Had a strange conversation the other day about getting gold stars in elementary school. You know, for cleaning up the hamster cages and being on good behavior at lunch, etc.

I thought this might be a zany, fun thing to try here. Points for participation. For example, there's 132 galleries participating in the rating system, but only a few get a lot of rating action.

(side note: there's a new "most active voter" catagory in the gallery listings.)

A point system would award members points for things like rating galleries. Maybe double points for rating galleries that are in the "ratings requested" list.

Maybe we could get some more traffic to go to the forgotten features under resources like the CG tracker and the series guides. (In addition to needing to fix both of those features which are -- I think -- broken atm.)

What are points good for? Probably a combination of fun things, useful things, and silly things. Maybe for 100 points (arbitrary number), you could have your feature gallery image always display (overriding the random display) on the home page for a few hours. If we print t-shirts or stickers, maybe a discount on fine Rubberslug-branded apparel.

I think this is where Thrance's lottery idea comes in too, because as long as there's an alternative free way to play a lottery, I'm pretty sure it's legal. Buy some raffle tickets with your points, win assorted anime loot. The loot will be dirt cheap if it's something I buy, if we can get contest sponsors then maybe it'll be something more interesting.

For 1,000,000,000 points you can buy a hit counter that actually works. Ha.

Good? Bad? Opinions encouraged. Keep in mind this won't happen for a while... not until everything around here is fixed and we can secure suitable rewards.

I like the point idea. Some ideas could be, like you said JN the featured gallery thingy. Longer listing on the updated gallery section. I hate when I update and 30 seconds later Im off the page of 20 updated galleries! Thatd be a ton of points though to be fair. The raffle junk. For raffle items, maybe some fan art if anyone is willing to do that. At a lessend price that is. And other assorted junk

Someone actually tried to collect and sued Pepsi for not being able to give him a Harrier (a more than $20-million British fighter jet).

I coulda sworn it was 1.2 million but at least I remembered enough about the story to look it up. I guess that's why I never made it off the backup team of my high school quiz bowl team.
