Show off your new LOOKS!!! ^_^

Just want to mention that I think I am winning the bet with a number of artsy-fartsy designer people I spoke with a few years ago about this site (or the concept for it, at least).

My stance was that given a basic, no-nonsense set of tools and the right restrictions (forced graphical and navigational consistency), anyone with no formal experience with print or graphic design can make a good web site -- even if it doesn't start from a chessy prebuilt template with clouds or guys wearing suits or other crap in it.

Good web sites just have to be direct and easy-to-comprehend. Fancy graphics and such really have very little to do with how much an actual user likes your page. Although many drive-by design naysayers may criticize featureless galleries, actual users do appreciate substance over style. Style really only affects your website if it's a) really, really, distractingly bad or b) if there is no other way to distinguish two people/comapnies/organizations (i.e. - buying something online from two retailers you've never heard of).

I didn't predict how quickly the more industrious members among us would hack around the admittedly limited templates to do things like implement their own style sheets, font sizes, etc. (That's a good thing. You rule.)

How does this relate to the conversation? I forgot. Something about relatively simple design schemes with limited colors and a somewhat unified theme being important.

Just a reminder, though: just because you start with a box doesn't mean your site has to look like a box when you're done! Feel free to experiment with a single color for the border, content background, and page background.

Wow, Ms.Poe... your gallery design.. I like it a lot! The graphic is just gorgeous. And STU... your wallpaper is very cool, and I like the ripped paper-ish effect you have around the main content area.

Jason, you proved them all wrong!! ^_~~~
But for those of us who are familiar with HTML, and graphics... but don't know all the secrets... could you put up a small "tips and tricks" area? Especially for the style sheet and font stuff? I wanna know too ;) Perhaps for the "advanced Rubberslugger" lol.

I love the new colors and lay out it's been fun working on some much needed changes. What I am looking for now is some feed back on my site. Changes good or Changes bad. If you have an idea I would love to hear them. Just rember my moto is "keep it stupid simple" or "keep it simple stupid"
