Cel identification/locating software?

I have 2 Thundercats cels that come from unknown episodes. I have spent several years now watching my Thundercats DVDs trying to locate the 2 cels within the series. I have yet to locate them and I'm nearing the end of the 140 episodes. I'm worried that my method doesn't work. I don't want to start over, so I got to wondering if there is any way that this process could be automated?

I'm thinking about how facial recognition software works, and was wondering if anyone knows a way to apply that to animation cels. What I want to do is feed a program my scanned animation cel .jpg, put a DVD in my computer, and have the computer scan the DVD for any possible matches within frames on the DVD.

Does anyone know if something like that exists?

Is it possible they are from a deleted scene? What are the markings on the cels and/or the background (if there is one). Most western shows are fairly well-marked with what episode they are from.

There were a few deleted scenes in the pilot episode that I know of, so I should probably check those. I think I can find them on Youtube.

How do the markings work, exactly? I have one cel of Tygra from Thundercats that has "376,368 AE" written near the top by the peg holes. If anyone can help me de-code that I would certainly appreciate it.

I've noticed that the numbering for Japanese animation and American animation are slightly different, so I'm not sure how much help I can provide. But, the "376, 368" thing likely pertains to the scene in which the cel was used. Episodes are divided into scenes, and sometimes the same backgrounds are reused in these scenes. The numbers make me think that your cel was used twice, once in scene 368, and also in 376.

That is pretty much exactly what everyone else has told me. So now the big problem is that I know which scene numbers this cel is from, but I have no idea which episode (of the 140). There are no episodes with the initials "AE", so I'm pretty much stuck.
