to the mods and jn
if jn could somehow make it so, you have to send in an example cel you have to post in a new gallery before being granted access to making one that would be great in solving the fake gallery problems. i dont really know any of you, but i seriously would like to help by having the cel images sent to me and then sending which ever mod or jn an "ok this is a real cel and not some pic gallery" message
meh sorry i feel a massive rant comming on is all, and i will stop, but like i said, i will gladly help out in that way if all you guys and gals have other things to deal with. im usualy free 9pm-12am pacific time, giving me 3 hours a night to sift through any emails. just an idea to lessen the fake gallery problems....
Sorry this is causing so much grief. I just wrote a huge e-mail to the mods explaining that my personal goal for this site is to bring a new level of editorial control over "random anime smacktards". I used the analogy that I wanted this site to convey that the most hardcore anime fans can be down-to-earth, intelligent human beings who just happen to know a lot about a specific genre of entertainment.
Foreign film geeks and indie music fanatics are considered "cool" and we're not. Things like the Animatrix (damn, those IG guys can draw) are starting to make people realize what we knew all along. Anime can be subtle and thought-provoking. The good stuff isn't about tentacle rape and blowing people's heads off, no matter what you read in Newsweek. The good stuff is about children dying of radiation poisoning after the war or the intertwined history of a journalist and a golden-era movie starlet.
People who make little picture galleries of ripped off artbooks and write in mixed caps about how l3eT their site is reinforces the bad sterotype. We want to vaporize those for that reason. (along with the "wasting valuable bandwidth" and blatant copyright infrigement reasons)
That being said, having new gallery owners go through a sort of interview would be really time-consuming and kinda anti-Internet. I appreciate the offer for help, but I'm not sure that would be worth your time and effort.
We've got a bunch of things planned for the near future, but rest assured that we are aware that the number of galleries on this site is making it increasingly harder to pay the Smacktard Tax in order to get to the sincere collectors.
Meh indeed.
