Why so few blogs on RS?

I'm doing a little ethnography of the virtual animation art community, and have circulated some questionnaires and started some threads on Anime-Beta, the most active forum of animation art collectors.

One interesting thing that hasn't been mentioned so far is the Rubberslug social network. It's here, and available, and has been at times fairly active. But not recently. With several hundred (thousand?) curators who could be blogging or posting on the forum, there seems to be surprisingly little activity.

So I thought I'd ask visitors to this forum: why do you think the RS blog and forum options are being used so relatively infrequently?

It could be a number of things, but I'd venture a guess that those factor into more of a chain reaction of inactivity.

With the market so quiet and people updating less frequently the blogs and posts on the message boards become infrequent as well. Disinterest in the hobby, life priorities, friends inactive, etc.

Bah, several thoughts popped into my head when I read your post but I have too much on my mind to organize them into a relevant post at the moment. Sorry.

Thanks: I'm just starting to look for ideas and insights, so any comments, however off-your-head they might seem, really are helpful.

I've noticed that, since the new layout, there seems to be less blog entries than there was before. Maybe that's because blog entries (and gallery plugs) are no longer featured on the site's front page?

I'm going to start blogging more on my RS gallery after I graduate from college - right now I don't have time. I think a lot of collectors post more on Anime Beta. I would definitely love to see more community and social networking going on between collectors.

Maybe when Jason gets around to adding more social media features to Rubberslug people will start participating.
