Rankin-Bass "Return of the King" cels - value?

Folks -

I have four cels from the Rankin-Bass production of "Return of the King," along with a note from Lester Abrams, who gave them to my grandfather as a thank-you gift.

I have no idea how much these are worth - how do I find out?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
I have an extensive Rankin Bass cel Collection. With a wide array of classics such as The Hobbit, The Flight of Dragons, The Last Unicorn, Thundercats, Silverhawks, Tigersharks ,

and yes even the Return of the King ....since I seem to be the only one on Rubberslug who collects from the feature your looking for advise on .....I can certainly help.

See them here:

I also have original artwork from the hardcover book published by Lester Abrams.

If you'd like you can send me an email at guardiansofgood@gmail.com.

My suggestion would be to shop around first and do a little research. Don't base any value on any ONE individual source as that might turn out to be unreliable. There are individuals out there that i'm sure would like to take advantage of your situation.

Here are a few art galleries that deal in animation art. I'm sure if you contact them they'd be more than happy to help you.

You also might want to look up any present and past auctions for "lord of the Rings" cels on ebay to get a general idea about prices as well. Heres a link for that to.

Hope these help you out. :)
