What Series Do You Want To See?

How about shikishi? I enjoy collecting those, and as long as there is a sketch, I'm not too picky. Sometimes magazines offer them as prizes, and I'd be willing to pay quite a bit for those.

I have never heard of shikishi before your post. If you could show me some examples and help me learn more about such art I would be happy to at least see if I can find you some during my time in Japan. :)

Not a problem. Here's a link to the shikishi that I have posted in my gallery - http://cutiebunny.rubberslug.com/gallery/master_query.asp?SeriesID=34938

Shikishi are small signboards that are given to famous people in Japan to sign/draw. A lot of Japanese magazines (ie. Jump Square, etc) run promotions where you can win signed items (generally shikishi, but sometimes other signed items or, around the New Year, postcards). Unfortunately, you need to reside in Japan to participate. So, really, all you would have to do is head to a konbini, see if any of the monthly mags are running a contest, and send it in.

Also, there are events where artists sign stuff, but unless you're going to be by one of the larger cities (ie. Tokyo, Osaka, Kanazawa), it doesn't make sense to do it. Train/air travel in Japan can be pricey.

At the moment I know that I will be assigned to Japan but I do not know exactly where but if I get the chance I would love to help you expand your collection since yours is so lovely.

Thank you for introducing me to such a new and lovely type of art by the way. I have never seen any shikishi before and I rather quite like them.

Thank you for the kind words regarding my small shikishi collection.

If you'd like me to pay a flat monthly fee towards the magazine purchases, please let me know. I realize that it won't gurantee me a shikishi, but, like the lottery, you can't win if you don't play.
