Is new anime any good?

Personally, I'd say no. It's rather disturbing that shows derived from Japanese dating sims are becoming quite ordinary now. Most of the others seem to come from various manga, presumably so they'd have a built-in fan base. (The latter really isn't as bad as the game-based shows.)

Also, even though digital ink and paint was supposed to make animation faster/easier, it's rare to see a show now that has 15+ minutes of original, non-recap animation per episode.

I`d have to agree with you jn on this one.

At least the concepts and writing could be better if they are saving so much on digi-art.

But, like you said most is just re-capped boredom.
