i think the best way to do it would be to keep sales in the shop section a site i vist recently had a long standing member scam people for several k with of merch and the forum owner had to remove the sale section

I would suggest that there be time outs on any sales listing. It would reguire that the member go back and manually relist the sales listing to keep it viable. As it is now, you have to wonder about sales listings that have been up for years.

I assume that many would want a feature that let them specify the time limit on the sales offer period. Could that be a sponsor feature? A fixed sales offer period for free users and an offer period choice for sponsors?

Free member ship could could with a per-year sales time limit on items. Sponsorship could bring longer time outs and greater per year sales time limits.

Some prepay period for monthly sponsorship fees is good. I would like to see it allow for prepay at least a year in advance.
