galleries by interest
The value in a broader category setup would be its ability to go beyond simple titles tho.
Yep. I agree 100% but a good portion of doing it this way is broad audiences and search engine results. A longstanding goal of the site has always been sharing and collector education though so there will definitely be room for this.
What I imagine will happen will be a new ability for motivated users like yourself to create gallery collections that can be annotated in a curator-like fashion. The core tagging system will probably get a few new fields as well. Off the top of my head, must-have fields include year, country of origin, studio, and primary artists.
One thing that sometimes frustrates me and some of my cel collecting friends when we are viewing galleries is clicking on a thumbnail because we are eager to find out what the owner wrote about the amazing cel/sketch/whatever only to find they declined to write anything.
Would it be possible to have the search indicate if there is a description (perhaps with an asterisk) so that we know if there's a description before we click?
Just a thought.
the only thing that is in your list for my gallery is Sailor Moon. I've got School Rumble, Godannar, This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, XXXholic, Peach Girl, and Princess Tutu too you know. (Which isn't on your list.)
Is this list divided by cel and CG?
Others to consider:
Big O
Dr Slump
Only Yesterday (Studio Ghibli)
Urusei Yatsura
Yawara
An older anime that should definitely be considered:
Astroboy (Tetsuwan Atomu)
Other American shows:
Flintstones
Garfield
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Tiny Toons
Also, what about European comics/shows, such as:
Tin Tin
The list is up to ~150 titles (a 50%) increase over the one posted on the front page. My girlfriend was completely ignoring my work on the site lately until I showed her that there are several enthusiastic fans of Jem and the Holograms on this site. It's kind of a reminder that the site needs to broaden its horizons past the general "Anime 1990-2005" focus.
Lots of collectors *and* potential collectors out there. Let's find them!
