three Yoshitaka Amano Final Fantasy prints

I was going through some collectibles and found these three Yoshitaka Amano Final Fantasy prints that I purchased years ago. They aren't anything like a glicee or signed prints I see for sale sometimes. They are smaller size, but printed on good cardstock. Regardless, the printing is done well and his illustrations are fantastic.

They all came in this little pinkish/white envelope that says "FINAL FANTASY" and "illustration Yoshitaka Amano." It has a logo that looks like amano's signture, and on the back there is a sticker that says "SQUARE BRAND." The folder itself has a copyright date of 1987.

The prints are approx 9 x 12 inches.

The first print is the well known "Behemoth" drawing. It has a copyright of 1987.

The other two are from later games (FFII and another?), and have listed copyrights of 1988 and 1991.

Here's two links to the images on the prints. I can't find images of the third one.

I
was hoping that maybe someone on Rubberslug can help me learn more about the background on these prints and where they come from.

Thank you for reading this post. I love you!

They were probably promotional materials given out with the games. Used to be you could get all kinds of neat stuff like that (in Japan of course). Otherwise it might have been an item given/sold with the release of 'Dawn,' Amano's artbook covering Final Fantasy I through IV. Both of the pieces you linked are printed in 'Dawn.' The behemoth is from FF I and the monster piece is from FF II. If you could scan or even describe the other one I could probably tell you what game it's from.

Eh heh, that's Lugaeborg (Dr. Lugae's final form in Final Fantasy IV). I'm still thinking they were a promotional item, but whether it came with 'Dawn' I'm not sure. He put out another collection of FF art called ' The Sky' that was released as a limited boxed set that came with two postcards. So I suppose if 'Dawn' came out as a limited set it might have had a set of prints with it. Wish I had something more specific. ^^;
