Protect vs Hide?

What's the difference in these two settings for your images? I thought 'protect' would let people view your image however they wouldn't be able to click on it when it's visible in your gallery. I thought 'hide' would totally hide your image so it can not be viewed in your gallery.

After testing out both today it seems that they do the exact same thing, hide your images from viewing. Anyone care to explain cause I'm a bit confused?

Also, I've seen some older galleries here on RS that let you view a series page of thumbnails however there is no way to click on the image to get to it's details page. Is there an html code they are using for this or a secret setting I don't know about? Seriously, I'm not losing my mind, lol.

Protect does hide the image but it can be viewed if the correct password is used.
Alot of RS members have sections such as hentai images password protected so to only allow those they want to view them.

Would you know how this is done? I hope my post doesn't sound confusing as to what I'm trying to ask in this last part of my post. :P

In your manage cels setion of your gallery under the administrative section (4th collum) there's a link under password. In there you can set or change a password for those cels or sections you wish to protect.

OT: Ryan is my last name and since my wife Maria & I share our collection hence it's "Ryan's Gallery" I answer to most anything but mostly Joe or JWR works best.

As Joe said, protect will protect your cels from viewing unless the person wanting to view knows your gallery password. Be aware that other "hidden" things will show up if you type in the gallery password, such as price, purchase date, and condition.

Hidden cels will not be viewable if you type in the gallery password. The only way you can view hidden cels is if you have the cel's exact URL. But, if you have the URL, you don't need the password to view hidden stuff. So, you can show cels to select people without letting them see your prices, etc.

Does that make sense? Hopefully it does.

As for the thumbnail thing . . . I have no idea. ^_^'
