Need help with cel/game shops in Tokyo

Greetings, fellow collectors.

One of my dear friends is traveling to Tokyo soon, and will be staying near the Tokyo tower area.

We are both into video games and production art, and thus he would like to visit shops that might have some of these items.

Does anyone with knowledge of the area have any recommendations? Any help would be appreciated, especially if you have any contact info or other details.

Thanks.

EDIT - if you know of any other worthwhile places to visit that aren't related to cels or video games, that's cool, too. :P

How long will your friend be visiting Tokio?

He's only staying for a week, but doesn't have much else planned out yet. Anything you can think of would be helpful. Thanks!

Ok for one week he will need to visit NAKANO.

IMO that place has the most cels shops concentrated in one area. There are a couple MANDARAKE shops on the second and third floors. The cels and books if I recall are on the third floor. Also note when you do go on the third floor where the Mandarake cel shop is located there is one part that has lots of display cases those cels are for the online auctions. However, note some of the cels displayed are for purchase and if you see something you like ask politely the ladies (usually staffed by women) to help you and point to the cels next door.

If you are interested in storyboards and settei they also carry some too. However do not expect the staff to converse well in English so brush up on your broken Japanese or better yet bring the Kanji or actual text for the series you are interested in.

Also in Nakano are multiple cel shops ie Hobby Shop K if I recall correctly and they are across from one of the many Mandarakes.

If he is looking for toys like Gundams, Transformers or CM figures then the place to go is AKIHABARA.

Lmk if you have other things you need suggestions with.
