Cost Feature Idea

I'm in the process of getting my cels insured and when I was trying to figure out the total cost of everything in my gallery, I just checked what I put in the "cost" section for each and every cel.

But it got me thinking: would it be possible to implement a feature that adds up everything in every "cost" box in your gallery? Or maybe that idea is too far-fetched.

I thought it would be pretty interesting to watch that total rise over the years and then stare at it in disbelief. Plus, on the more practical side, it would be a fairly accurate record, for insurance purposes, of how much the collection is worth in total so that you don't keep having to manually check every cel for its cost when, for instance, you want to increase your insurance.

It might be easier and far more accurate for you to take the time to create an Excel spreadsheet noting, the purchased date, purchased price, seller, other noteworthy qualities, interested parties and current market value for each cel or insured item in your possession.

Yes doing so will take sometime, but this will be much more helpful to insurance companies than having to comb through RS for a total. Also, consider this, if you decide to sell some cels you can have at a glance on a private spreadsheet all of the information including current market value assuming you track these things on ONE document. This will centralize things for you and make the information highly portable, since you can easily email or fax the document if needed.

Already did the spreadsheet before I posted. ^_^ Call me Miss Organised hehe.

Just thought it might be an interesting RS feature too to add up everything.

I too rely on spreadsheets on a daily basis which is why I do not like to rely on websites tracking information. Bugs, crashing, revamping, migration and any number of technical issues plague the online communities regularly. Maybe someday RS will add the feature you are talking about, but for now I am happy tracking it on my own. Glad to know someone else pays as much attention to the details as I do. Besides tracking the costs on our own really helps us understand how much monies we are spending and helps us face possible overspending/addiction issues too.
