Cat hair on cels...
I am still fairly new to cel collecting, and didn't store them as I should have. From damaging them by failing to take the cel from the cardboard sheet (cel stuck and I lost some paint when separating it...one of my favorite cels *sniff*) to taking them out to look at them in a room with a cat, I have yet to get a proper storage system in place. (I also unfortunatly live in an area where it gets real humid and hot in the summer)
Getting back to the problem on hand, is there a safe way to get the cat hair off my cels? I have tried to gently brush it off with my hand, but I stopped doing that, because I was afraid of damaging it further...the hair still remains...

I am not sure how to but usually I wear cotton groves and take cats' hair with soft water color brash. (of course, make sure brash does not have loose hairs itself).
I try not to use hands on cels as much as I can (al most at all).
There's a couple of things you can do, depending on how bad the hair is. You could try a large, dry, soft bristle paint brush.
If that doesn't work, try canned air or better yet, a portable air compressor. They work wonders for cleaning dusty action figures, computer keyboards and debris from cels.

Hiya Inuyashasama,
Welcome to Rubberslug!
To get cat hair off without touching the cel,You can take a balloon and rub it on a carpet or some type of wool or even your own hair,The balloon will pick up a static charge and the hair will be drawn to the balloon when you pass it over the cel.
It may take a few times of rubbing the balloon to build up the charge to get all the hair off, But it does work as long as the hair on the cel is somewhat dry and not stuck to the cel with some kind of fluid.
I rolled the balloon on the cel all over so the balloon touched every part to get all the hair.
I hope this works for you?
If not you can use distilled water on a cotton T-shirt,NOTE use the inside of the T-shirt ,it's softer and try not to use a brand new shirt they can sometimes be stiff.
Do not press hard just pass the cloth over the cel one way do not rub. Rubbing can remove your lines on the front if you go back and forth on the front of the cel.
This type of cleaning is done to most cels just before they get shot on camera to clean dust off of them.
*Make sure you use distilled water and not tap water,Tap water has minerals in it and WILL leave spots on the cels.
I hope this was of some help to you!
By the way scan them cels and open a Rubberslug gallery,IT'S FREE. :)

Toni,
Be real careful using a air compressor you can blow the paint right off the cel if it's set to high.
I watched a guy I know try to clean some cels he spilled some water on and the air blew large chunks of paint off,Boy was he bummed O_O
The canned air works good but keep the air tube about 6" to 10" from the cel and make sure the canned air is what is called green gas and not hydrocarbons of some type,These types can melt your paint and or your cel there like dry cleaning fluid.
