Donations not acknowledged/recorded
Hello ^_^x I also sent an email through the "contact us" feature and a direct email to the adminastrator more than a week ago, but never got a response nor have I seen a change in my account here at RS.
I have sent in 2 donations, totalling $20 ( $10 each transaction ) more than a week ago. However, there has been no change to my RS account- as in, I haven't gotten the little "badge" of my sponorship, nor am I able to access sponsor features that are available only to members who have donated ( like being able to upload/sell/trade items at the RS shop ).
Since both an email and a feedback form about this have gone unanswered, I'm hoping to get some attention here ^_^x
Thanks for any responses or help! ^_^x
Hiya maiko,
Jason is realy busy with his work and sometimes it takes a few weeks for him to turn stuff on,
If he has not answered your email he is most likely out of town or something.
He updates when he gets home and has time to do them all at once.
Rubberslug is a side hobby for him and not his full time job and he checks it when he has time,
I'm sure if he was home he would turn your stuff on for you,it took me 2 weeks to get mine turned on and I have seen some take a few weeks when he was out of town working.
Please give him more time and don't be angry with him he works his butt off at his job and it does not leave much time for RS stuff.
Jason does not make any money off of RS the stuff we send him just does cover costs and sometimes does not,He does this site as a hobby and to let others have a place to post there artwork on.
I hope this helps you out some with the little info I put here.
Roy
I was in no way implying that Jason should drop everything in his life just to reply to me- and I in no way believe that it is his job to provide this service to us and be able to answer for it every second of the day. I would hardly call my post angry. For all I know, his email may bounce mine as spam and he never got anything from me- so posting here was just another way of trying to make contact, since I *do* know that mods are on the forum frequently, and they might be able to answer my question for me, or else pass on the information to Jason or whoever needs to know.
I really don't care about a 'badge' to brag about my compassion to donate, nor do I even plan to use the RS shop any time soon. I was merely pointing those out that those were evidence to me whether or not the money I had sent had been received okay, as the money has definitely left my bank account- and I want to make sure they received it from me okay- for all I know, I could have typed the email address wrong for payments and sent it somewhere else, or it could be floating in cyberspace somewhere.
Maybe you didn't mean for it to sound that way, but I am insulted by your reply- which basically makes me feel like I am being called out as an ingrate who believes she deserves some kind of special treatment around here. I recognize that Jason doesn't have to offer us these services, especially for free, and THAT'S why I donated- out of appreciation. I know I'm not known as an individual too well around here, but I had hoped that I was known well enough that people wouldn't automatically take me for someone that is an ingrate greedily taking advantage of someone else's hard work, services, and charity to fellow collectors.
Whoa, I just cleared donations out like two days ago. That shouldn't have slipped by. My bad. The donation system is really bad and requires a lot of one-on-one care on my part, and I do apologize for not getting this out sooner.
Periodically, it seems like I don't get e-mail notifications for donations and I'm not sure if that's a result of Paypal dropping something or my mail server dropping something. Seeing as I've had an inordinate amount of trouble with our mail server software lately, though...
In any case, there's no excuse for me being late with these. I just updated it so it should be accurate as of now. Apologies.
And just to clarify: as it has always been, the donations are not the difference between life or death on this site. I'm not going to shut this off or anything if I never got another $20 in the mail. It's just a little offset. This is ancient history, but for the first year or two (2001-ish), I was reluctant to even take donations at all. It feels weird, but I'm grateful for the support all the same.
I can't say this strongly enough: we value each of you, as a member of the collector community, more than we value your money. I know how to make money, but I don't know how to make new collectors. No money makes this a challenge, but no collectors makes this pointless.
We do appeciate each and every donation, just as we appreciate everyone who is willing to share their collections on the site. But really, we will like you just as much as if donating to the site just isn't in the cards. No worries.

Which is exactly why I posted this here- just to make sure that in case any other forms of communication were failing for whatever reason, perhaps I might reach someone this way ^_^x It was never meant to kick someone's butt into immediate action. I just wanted contact ^_^x
No need to apologize for the delay. I just wanted to make sure everything was okay and that the payment had been received and had been sent to the correct person, etc. I can understand that payments can slip by easily without notice, as paypal has often times never sent me an email when someone sends me money for something, and I end up never knowing unless I log in to my Paypal account and look in the history and see that they actually did.
Plus, I make routine donations to several other websites I frequent, and sometimes *I* accidently in a moment of confusion, send a donation for one website to another website when selecting the payment address from the drop-down menu or else totally forget who a particular donation goes to this round ( with some of the websites, the donations work as pledges, where you pledge a certain amount for the year, and then you make installment payments towards it either monthly, quarterly, etc. ).
Anyway, thanks again for getting back to me on this. ^_^x
Thank you for your prompt response here. It is appreciated ^_^x
