Japanese collectors, etc.,...

Of course this site caters to us English speakers mainly, or those that can of course understand English to a certain degree, but what do you think about the inclusion of non- English speaking collectors and their galleries here?

There are so many great Japanese collectors of anime cels out there, but of course!

I have been thinking about this for some time. There are some really great Japanese, and European cel collectors out there that I know about (of course many other countries too and sites that I don`t!) and I think that it would be great to attract them and add/set up along with us. People actually from all over the world come here and check out the cels all of the time. I have seen the stats. (hehe)

I don`t know how we could approach this, but it would be nice to have a sort all inclusive site here, of galleries I mean, IMHO.

What do you think?

The strange thing about that is, looking through recents logs, more and more of our users are coming from out of out of the United States. A full 25%, in fact, come from Canada, Latin America, Western Europe, and Asia.

I'd love to localize the site dialogs except for a few problems:

1) No translators
2) Translators are expensive
3) The codebase isn't set up to provide multi-language capability (yet)
4) I can't help people in Japanese, French, German, etc. should they encounter a problem.

There are a few adventurous Japanese members who have set up sites and have a very good grasp of English for (presumably) a non-native speaker. I recall at least a half dozen Italians and a few from Brazil as well.

Much props to anyone who speaks more than one language. I can't. Language is really a place where the whole "boorish Americans" thing becomes pretty painfully obvious.

I don't think that you would need to go through the burden or expense to satisfy a foreign or non-Englsih speaking audience with changing anything. I think just having a link to a "text" page worth of explainations here (i.e.,"how to?" and "what is this?") type of help would all that would be necessary to actually get someone on-board. Since you have some Japanese already on-board, along with other bi-lingual members, it might help to ask for their help/advice in the process. Plus we have these sites to help out online:

http://www.cafeglobe.com/cafe/wotg/text/index_te_EN.html

Especially
good for Japanese/English translations

and also this:

http://world.altavista.com/

Which
allows the whole page to be translated into a variety of languages.

These sites help tremendously to fill-in the gaps.

Just an idea...

(time for me to take out my small "e-cap" and stand in the corner..) ^-^
