Idea for a Sticky
Mods and Jason wondering two things...
One, perhaps we can add and/or sync a "SSL" aka safe sellers list with the number of completed transactions under users RS names so people can know that they've dealt with other RSrs?
I.e.

Or, two, can someone can create a sticky for a SSL aka a safe sellers list?
Possible requirements, only people who've completed good transactions specifically for cels, gengas, dougas and hankens through RS can be nominated. This will helps both sellers and buyers alike know how has established themselves here too.
Oh and perhaps on the first page of the post a mod can periodically update the list by adding SSL to the list?
Just my ten cents. Would love to hear mod and Jason's comments. Thanks.
Are you talking about transactions in the RS shop or between members via offers or trades?
To me what goes on between members is their business and has nothing to deal with RS. We will not ban or suspend someone cause a private deal falls apart or there are problems.
The same goes for Ebay or other dealer sites. Ebay has their feedback and safety center for disputes. Dealers are handled by those involved.
Now as to items RS members have in the RS shop. The rules are posted. Any problems with transactions between members in the shop can be reported to a Moderator who will investigate it. If a violation can be proved , the violator will be banned.
I'm not a moderator, but I'd like to say something about this idea.
I've been on rubberslug for 9 months, and in that time I've bought only one cel from the RS shop.
This is partly because I think some of the cels there are too highly priced. I've seen people fail to get any bids on eBay and then post their cel here for the same large minimum price. Nothing wrong with that, but it means that the cel is likely to sit there for awhile.
What I'm trying to say is this: using myself as an example (a bad one, maybe), I wonder whether the numbers would ever become sufficiently large to be of use. What if my one purchase had gone bad? I'd be stuck forever with a negative evaluation.
There are other things that a potential buyer can do to check out the seller. The person's listings and history on rubberslug tell you something. Or you can ask for something a private seller volunteered to me awhile back, her eBay feedback. Or you can use PayPal's buyer protection service (not that I ever have).
I was referring to a feedback rating specifically for RS transactions, from items in users RS galleries and the RS shop.
I am not advocating consolidating information ie what happens on ebay and/or other sites. If people want that information then the onus is on the buyer to ask for it and the seller to provide references from whatever sources.
As for problems or a blacklist, a thread can easily be created and pinned which a mod can update.
So back to my original request, can Jason or another mod, add a RS feedback rating in the section below our icon above the zen and post number? IMO this would help id good seller; I know people do not widely sell or buy on RS but there are successful deals conducted through RS and those sellers need to be identified. Thanks for listening.
IMO the SSL number is merely used to reflect if you have conducted a successful sale(s) specifically on RS and have been identified as a SSL aka safe seller list. If you engaged in a bad sale or purchase IMO you should be held accountable for that action; but, that does not mean you will be forever stuck w/it, you can improve it if you sell something successfully.
I agree about requesting alternative sources of information if available, i.e. ebay, other forums and SSL. I would not recommend paypal buyer protection service, but that is a separate matter.
Ultimately all I am suggesting is to have some form or tracking on RS for good users who were sellers, which IMO is a prudent thing to do. Thanks.
