question about framing
what exactley are the best ways to frame cels? i know you need acid free matts, uv glass, and museum type mounting. today i went to The Frame Store to see about how much it would cost to get theones i have framed, and all they do there is custom framing and the lady who worked there told me it would be about 100-150 to get each one individually framed using all the cheapest stuff. is that about what i should expect to pay for each one??
If you do it yourself it will be MUCH Cheaper. Get pre-cut mats at most craft stores (Michaels). I like to float my Cels so if you do the same you will need at least 2 mats. Background, Mat with Cel on top and then your final mat on top of that. I like to get simple thin Black frames that you can just pop off the back and put the Cels/Mats in. When your buying a frame push a little on the back to make sure there is some room for Multiple mat set-ups. If you have a special sized cel it shouldn't cost you that much to have a mat cut. Have the outside dimensions cut for an already made frame (as mentioned above). This way you should spend and average of around $12-$30 per cel. If you decide to have UV glass cut for your frames it will be more but you will still save. You can also get UV protective film to lay over your glass. so unless you want a special custom frame and a mat cut with funky patterns this is the way to go. You will save 100s of $ this way. There is also some great framing advice under the RESOURCES section of Rubberslug. Good luck!

Floating cels is nice, but you might want to explain that practice so others know what you mean. A comparison pic or two would be great too. Thanks.
Oh and by resources Mark meant the following section "Anime Cel and Production Art Links
" located within the RESOURCES link. Specifically goto the "Cel and sketch Care Guide" subsection, scroll down. ^_^
