Layered cels question.
Alot of my cels contain 'staple holes in the tops' And many of my cels w/backgrounds have one or more stamples rudly stapled on the upper right and left areas. Anyone that really cared would simply tape the edges of the top to the background, or have the cel in a seperate bag, the to of the bag stuck with artistic tape to the upper portions of the background. Either way, stapling cels to the the background decreases the value just as much as a cel with lots of dints, spots, background melding, or paint loss. Hope this helps.

Hello,
I have a few whole movies and TV shows still in there production company boxes.
And I have found a few items that were stapled by them like underlays for Backgrounds and correction layers on some cels and a few other items, But for the most part staples are added by sellers or owners that do not want there layers to move.
Staples in any way are very bad and will rust over time and mess your cel up real bad so remove them all.
As far as making the cel worth less,I have found as long as the staple was used in the margins it does not bring the value down as most folks that frame them cover this part up anyway.
Remove them by laying the cel face down, make sure there are is no sand or anything under it and with a pin bend the ends of the staple up and make them as flat as you can and flip the cel over and pull out very slow so not to tear the cel.*** NOTE:Don't use a staple remover this will tear your cel.
I hope this helps out some.
