Looking for good sites and searches.

Me and my wife are finally getting a house here soon and I finally get my own office. I plan on taking my collection of anime cels in to get specialty frame work done on them to preserve them. I am also stepping up my collecting so I have a bigger collection.

Im just having a hard time finding the cels I want for my collection. After checking all the sites I can as well as just about ever site listed on cels.org I just cant seem to find alot of what I want.

I also think Im putting in the wrong searches on ebay besides actual series names as well as the typical "anime cel" search but get nada.

My wife wont let me do proxy bids on things like yahoo japan but will let me order from anywhere else.

Im mostly looking for gundam cels from all series as well as stuff from macross plus, ghost in the shell and my ever impossible to find argento soma.

So if anyone knows of any good sites or any good ebay search tips so I can get more of my loved cels that would be a huge help to me.

Have you tried entering "gundam cels" on your ebay searches?? I know a seller who often puts various animation cels on sale there and it does include Gundam cels.

It's too bad that you are not able to utilize YJ at this time. Like other collecters, I know I rely on Rinkya alot as one of my primary sources to acquire cels.

Yeah, it has been kinda hard to find what Im looking for thanks to the fact I cant use YJ and trut me I cried like a small child over that one and still got nothing.

I have been putting in indavidual series names followed by cel and there are some good hits but not alot. I just figured maybe there is something more to it that Im missing but cant put my fingers to work on it.

That anime museum site was one I seemed to have missed and got some good hits on it for things Im looking for.

Still cant find any good cels of Heero Yuy though that are not going to make my wallet have a heart attack. :lol:

I can feel your wallet's pain--there are some great pieces over at that I'd keel for too at Anime Museum! :P I would love to own a limited edition cel from Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away".....but I'd have a coronary too! lol

I am not even sure myself if I have all the online animation stores webaddresses myself! So, don't fret! Maybe some other kind peoples around here can help you out too!

Would your spouse allow you to bid on Mandarake Auctions? It's a great service and its affordable. I see alot of Ghost in the Shell storyboard and setti, Gundam, etc there on auction frequently.

Hello and welcome to Rubberslug! I can comment for you on Macross Plus and perhaps Ghost in the Shell some. The basic point is, both of these series are rather hard to find. Not because you are looking in the wrong places but that not many cels are made available. You can find some Ghost in the Shell cels but the majority of them will be of Batou. I have yet to find a single cel for sale of Kusanagi that I thought was decient. My goal is to get just one nice Ghost in the Shell cel of the major for my collection and then continue to focus on my true love, Macross. My search goes on.

As for Macross Plus, good cels from this show are very hard to find. The vast majority of the ones I have seen are of Myung and all from the scene where she gets strung up in the cables by Sharon. Cels of Sharon herself are almost non-existant on sale pages and perhaps the most popular among collectors. Mecha cels, if that's your thing, are also very hard to find. I have managed to get a few cels and sketches from Macross Plus (click on my avatar at the left to link to my gallery). I acquired some of them from another member here on Rubberslug and some at the Anime Expo convention.

Anyways, don't get frustrated and just keep at it. Patience is a virtue in this hobby as new things are always being brought out into the light of day as collectors/dealers all over the world purge their collections. With a little digging I've found alot of cel sites by just doing a Google search for something like, "macross cel". Also don't feel bad, I have found that Yahoo Japan isn't a very good source for Macross Plus or Ghost in the Shell cels so you are not missing much. On the other hand it is by far the best source for other Macross cels.

When I get a chance I will go through my site links and put together a list for you of those that have Macross Plus cels (some of these may have GITS cels as well).
