time to burn

This poll was inspired by the recent blog post by Uende: http://www.rubberslug.com/gallery/weblog_view.aspx?sn=chx&w=3449

I've
somehow become the filter for everyone else I know. No one watches anime anymore out of the half dozen friends I had who did because it's nearly universally terrible. It's my unofficial job to recommend things that don't suck.

This is what happens when you cannibalize the system instead of putting money into it though. The Japanese anime industry hasn't been big on combining original properties with anything approaching a reasonable level of execution in *years*. All the somewhat decent shows come from manga or, dare I say it, dating sims. All the long running shows need to be condensed into one episode for every ten (I'm looking at you, Bleach and Naruto).

I've been leaning towards skipping anime completely these days. Thanks goodness there's only 2-3 shows I've wanted cels from since cels stopped being made.

Next poll will be about what's your least favorite filler story arc maybe..... the tournament story arc? the "beat these bad guys in order" story arc? the "we forgot how to use our powers" story arc? Don't forget the filler recap episodes. Those are the best.

Definitely "give me a BREAK"!!

And the filler recap episodes have GOT to be the most vile and evil things on the planet!
Closely followed by the "beat these bad guys in order" story arcs. erg.
But I have to admit, the sillification of the established characters just might push the filler recaps off the top. I'm dreading when I get to ep 70 now...

I dread hearing the word "filler", but I don't think all filler episodes are so-so to bad. I think One Piece has some of the best filler episodes I've ever seen. Maison Ikkoku I thought had a very good filler episode.

But...decent quality long-spanning filler episode arcs are pretty uncommon I think. :(

Wow, I inspired a poll?
I'm flattered!

Well, you know my point of view on this.
I had to watch the "real" eps of Naruto again to wash away the bad taste from my mouth those fillers left >_<

I made the decision to not watch Bleach anymore untill they start following the manga again. Same for Naruto, I haven't watched the last 5 episodes of Naruto's filler drama either.

Ahh...gotta love those fillers! J/K Actually, I don't mind some of them, because for me, they add in some great comedy amidst the darker plot (think InuYasha). But in the case of YYH, which I just got into, I found myself pulling too many feathers out of my couch, yelling at the show to get this dumb episode over with...*sigh* A double-edged sword. Can't live with them, and the show doesn't seem to go on without them...
