I'm heading out early to take a side trip to the Sapporo Snow Festival! Whee! Snow! Snow castles! 1/4 snow replicas of the Parthenon! Snow Doraemon!

If you like great seafood, giant crab and lobster you'll be very happy. There is also "Genghis Khan" a meat specialty you'd should try. Of course, in Japan Sapporo it is very well known as a nice place to have a beer or two. People are friendly compared to other Japanese cities, and talkative.

I suggest:

The "izakaya" (bar/restaurant) called "Uotami" a chain restaurant(pronouced with a soft U sound)in Sapporo. You'll get good food and drinks for a good price.
